Simply beautiful. An elegant yet simple, sturdy, and practical design.
While the organic wool fill is recommended the hypoallergenic polyester fill is easier to wash and dries more quickly.
The organic cotton bows attach the bumpers to the side of the basket. They can be cut shorter and tied if desired.
The basket is made from untreated maize (corn husks) and is woven in China. Little Merry Fellows tells us that the manufacturer is one of very few companies that make such baskets (and that the Chinese are some of the best basket makers in the world). Little Merry Fellows is also confident with the manufacturer’s quality facility and good working conditions. Baskets undergo a final gamma radiation treatment for possible infestation (a similar process used in food sterilization).
The Baby Futon Moses Basket does not contain chemical flame retardants and is designed for napping (not sleeping) and therefore is not required to meet national flame retardant laws.
Cotton fleece is super soft and is comparable to the softness of polyester but is made from 100% cotton.

Measurements: Basket - 28"L x 14"W x 9"D Caring For Your Moses Basket: The organic sheet and blanket are machine-washable, while the mattress and bumper are hand-wash only. Please dry your futon (and bumpers) thoroughly after washing. Be sure to allow extra drying time to ensure the organic wool filling is completely dry throughout. Typically Moses baskets are used for newborns until they reach four months old – at which point most infants are too large or too heavy to comfortably rest in the basket. In those critical first few months of life, parents find it comforting to be able to stay close to their baby, and babies love the “cocooning” feeling that these baskets are designed to provide. During the night, many parents keep these baskets as baby bassinets next to their own beds, making midnight feedings much easier (without the concerns some parents feel about having their babies sleep in the parents’ bed). The stand is nice to have, for several reasons. It’s easier to check on and tend to your infant at a more convenient height, it keeps the baby out of drafts that sometimes flow across the floor, and it keeps curious pets (and older siblings!) from trying to climb into the basket. Plus, the rocker legs provides a calming motion that babies love. Check the bolts and screws of the basket’s stand, and make sure they stay secure and tight. Always place the basket securely in the stand before placing the infant in the basket. You can use the basket to acclimate your infant to her crib by placing the basket in the crib shortly before you make the transition. Once your child outgrown it, the Moses basket is handy for storing stuffed animals, toys, or baby supplies. You can pass the basket along to a friend or family member who is expecting a child, or keep it to be passed down as a family heirloom. |
