Quick Wellness Guide for the 21st Century


The following quick reference guide provides an overview for wellness (in the 21st century).  Each of the subjects below are well documented and we encourage you to do your own research for additional information.  We'll continue to update this guide and if there is a specific topic you'd like us to include then please contact us and we'll add it.

Aluminum Cookware
Avoid.  See cookware.

Air
Breathe fresh oxygen rich air whenever possible.  Use chemical-free products in the home and office.  Exercise in areas away from traffic and pollution.  Use air purifiers in the home and office as required.

Amalgam Fillings (Teeth)
Avoid.  Consider mercury free alternatives.

Anti-Bacterial Soap
Avoid.  See soap.

Artificial Colors & Flavors
Avoid.

Artificial Sugar (NutraSweet, Aspartame etc.)
Avoid.  See sugar.

Bedside Clock
Place at least six feet from the bed.  Consider removing all electrical appliances from the bedroom and placing the bed head against a wall with no power points.

Beef
Choose organic 100% grass fed beef.  Ensure that beef is grass-finished and not grain-finished.

Bottled Water
Purify your own water instead of buying it.  Use a non-toxic refillable water bottle.

BST (Bovine Somatotropin)
Avoid.  See dairy.

Bread
If you choose to eat bread consider living breads such as organic sour dough and organic sprouted breads.

Candles
Seek out pure beeswax candles that use chemical/metal free wicks.

Canola Oil
Avoid.

Chlorine
Avoid.  A common source is tap water.

Cell/Mobile Phone
If you have to use a cell phone, keep the handset as far away from your head and body as possible.  Hands-free and Bluetooth headsets may not be safe alternatives.  Use a plug-in phone instead whenever possible.

Cell Phone Towers
Avoid.  Minimize radiation by living and working as far from towers as possible and practical.

Chopping Board
Use glass (which is easy to keep clean and hygienic) or use untreated wood.

Coconut Oil
Look for cold-processed organic virgin coconut oil.

Cookware
Use cookware made of safe materials such as glass, enameled cast iron, earthenware/ceramic, and bamboo/wood.

Corn
Choose organic corn and products made with organic corn since the majority of corn grown in the U.S. is GMO.

Corn Syrup
Avoid.  See sugar.

Cheese
Choose organic raw (un-pasteurized).  Consider goat cheese instead of cow.

Computer
Put as much distance between you and your computer (and monitor) as practical.

Dairy (Milk, Cheese, Yogurt, Kefir)
Choose organic raw (un-pasteurized).  Consider goat milk instead of cow.

Dry Cleaning
Use “green” cleaners.  A green cleaner list is available here.

Electric Blanket
Warm the bed beforehand and then unplug when sleeping.  Consider a wattle bottle instead.

Fats
Use only good fats such as coconut oil, olive oil, flax oil, raw butter, and ghee.

Fish
Choose wild fish from deep clean sea water areas where ever possible.  Choose smaller fish that are lower on the food chain (than larger fish).  Avoid farm raised.

Flavors (Artificial)

Avoid.  Look for the many hidden names used for flavors.  Seek out the many alternative products that are flavor free.

Flour
Make your own flour from organic whole grains for greater nutrition and flavor.

Fluorescent Lights
Avoid. Use full spectrum light or incandescent light.

Fluoride
Avoid.  Common sources are tap water and toothpaste.
 
Food
Choose foods that are as close to their natural state as possible and have been minimally processed.  Include as many raw and live foods for their essential and naturally occurring nutrients.  Seek out locally grown or organic foods.  Consider growing some of your own in pots on your balcony, or if space permits, in a garden.

Fruit Juice
Make your own juice from fresh whole fruits for juice that is living, vital, and nutritious.  Consider eating organic whole fruits instead or grow your own.

Genetically Engineered Food
Avoid. Seek out organic foods which by law cannot contain GMO ingredients or buy from local farmers that grow traditional and heirloom foods.  Switch to non-GMO brands and learn more about GMO.  Many processed foods contain GMO ingredients.

Herbs
Use organic herbal supplements and organic herbal tinctures in organic alcohol.  Use organic fresh/dried herbs in food.  If using non-organic herbs ensure they have not been irradiated.  Consider growing your own.

Lip Balm
Avoid petroleum and use products with natural ingredients only.

Hair Dryers
Limit use due to high EMFs.

Ingredients
Get into the habit of reading the ingredients on all products used.  Seek out products that have ingredients you recognize and can pronounce.

Irradiated Food
Avoid.  Check with your supermarket to find out what foods are irradiated.

Margarine
Avoid.  See Fats.

Media (Mainstream)
Avoid. Owned by a small number of individuals, financially and politically motivated.

Microwaves
Avoid.  Heat foods and liquids using conventional methods such as the stove or oven.  Cook foods quickly using a pressure cooker.  It may be less convenient but you’ll benefit greatly from more nutrition.

Monosodium Glutamate  (MSG)
Avoid.  Look for the many hidden names of MSG.  Often found in fast food and restaurant chains.  Ask to see ingredient lists since staff are often not informed.

Nonstick Cookware
Avoid.  See cookware.

Olestra
Avoid.  A common source is potato chips.

Olive Oil
Look for organic first cold pressed extra virgin for the most beneficial and nutritious oil.

Organic
Use certified organic products whenever possible or seek out products that exceed organic standards.

Paint
Use non-toxic paint whenever possible especially in bedrooms.

Pesticides, Insecticides, Fungicides, Termiticides
Avoid.  Cide means kill.  Use safe chemical-free alternatives such as neem oil.

Perfumes
Use therapeutic grade essential oils instead since most perfumes have a petrochemical base.

Phone
Use a plug-in phone whenever possible.  Avoid cordless and cell phone usage due to EMR.

Piercings
Avoid.

Plastic
Use safer alternatives whenever possible such as glass, ceramic, and paper. Avoid exposing plastics to heat.

Plastic Storage Containers
While convenient, use glass or ceramic instead to preserve the quality of food.

Plastic Wrap
Use baking (greaseproof) paper or waxed paper as a non-toxic alternative.  Avoid direct contact with food.

Power Lines, Substations, Transformers
Avoid. Minimize EMF by living and working as far from these as possible (and practical).

Potassium Bromate
Avoid.  Common sources are flour and bread.

Preservatives

Avoid.  Look for the many hidden names used for preservatives.  Seek out the many alternative products that are preservative free. 

Pressure Cooker
Reduces cooking times up to 70% making it faster to prepare fresh cooked meals.

rBGH/rBST
Avoid.  See dairy.

Salt
Use organic unrefined salts that are full of minerals.

Soap
Use soap made from all natural ingredients only.  Avoid anti-bacterial soap.
 
Soda
Avoid.  Drink fresh organic raw fruit juice or fresh fruit smoothies instead.

Sodium Nitrate
Avoid.  A common source is processed meat.

Soy Lecithin
Avoid. Soybean lecithin comes from sludge left after crude soy oil goes through a "degumming" process.
 
Soy Products
Soy is only beneficial when fermented and taken in small amounts.  Be sure to seek out organic soy since most U.S. soy is genetically modified.

Sports Drinks
Avoid.  Drink water with freshly squeezed lemon/ lime juice or choose a natural water supplement.

Styrofoam
Avoid.

Sugar
Use natural sweeteners including raw honey, stevia, raw agave, grade B maple syrup, and evaporated sugar cane juice.  Consider using dried or fresh fruits.

Television
Make conscious decisions about what to watch and when.  Use discretion to decide what is true and what is propaganda/propagenda.  Be aware that television affects brain function and by intent, creates our culture, influences our beliefs, influences the way we interpret events around us, and our actions.

Toothpaste
Seek our natural toothpastes and be sure to read toothpaste ingredients.  Consider making your own toothpaste.

Trans Fats
Avoid.  See fats.

Ultrasound
Avoid (unless urgent).

Wrist Watch
A kinetic or wind up watch is preferable to a battery operated watch due to EMR.  Consider not wearing a watch at all.

Vaccination
Take the time to make an informed decision.  There is a wealth of information available on the web, in books, and on DVDs.  Your decision will impact your health and the health of your family for the rest of your lives.  If considering vaccinating your child, take time to talk to parents whose children have been damaged by routine inoculation.

Vitamins
Find out what’s in your vitamins.  Do they contain fillers, colors, flow agents, or other excipients? Where do the ingredients come from (or how are they made) including the capsule? Are they whole food based?

Water
Drink the purest water available and consider making your own purified water at home.  Consider distilled and reverse osmosis over a simple carbon filter.

WiFi
Use wired cables instead to reduce the amount of electromagnetic radiation in your home and office.

X-rays
Avoid (unless urgent).
